Insight

This is a poem that my friend Nesta wrote some years back. Nesta often visited Mum, and this was one she read to her.

To the blind, untouched
By the beauty of the rose,
Is the dark misfortune
Many a poor soul knows;
But greater far
The tragedy of those
Who, sightless, walk
Where the Rose of Sharon grows,
Whose heart's eyes
Neither follow where He goes
Nor seek His face
In moments of repose.
Better to have missed
The beauty of the rose
Than the life eternal
God in Christ bestows.

"I am the Rose of Sharon..." Song of Solomon 2:1
"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whoever believe in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." John 3:16
